Cal-Pro-NET
The California Professional Nutrition Education and Training (Cal-Pro-NET) network is a collaborative effort between the California Department of Education and institutions of higher learning that represent the three public college systems in the state.
Cal-Pro-NET serves as a statewide resource for professional development and training to help Child Nutrition personnel meet the program requirements for serving nutritious school meals. The UC Davis Center for Nutrition in Schools is designated as the Cal-Pro-NET Center representing the University of California system, providing training and resource materials targeted mainly to established Child Nutrition Directors, Nutrition Education Specialists, and school administrators.
Webinars
California school nutrition directors, supervisors, menu planners, and staff are invited to attend webinars on a variety of menu planning topics. These presentations will focus on requirements for the selected topic, and any changes resulting from the new USDA menu planning requirements.
Focus on Food: Nutrition and Health for School Nutrition Programs
Focus on Food is a learner-centered nutrition curriculum that was developed by the UC Davis California Professional Nutrition Education and Training (Cal-Pro-NET) Center in partnership with the California Department of Education. The curriculum is designed for school nutrition program personnel, such as cooks, servers, and frontline staff. The objective of Focus on Food is to facilitate the understanding of nutrition concepts and awareness of general nutrition recommendations, while allowing participants to discover connections between these recommendations and the importance of school nutrition program requirements.
Food Safety for Child Nutrition Professionals
This online course and supplemental materials are designed for Child Nutrition Professionals who are interested in learning more about food safety concepts and regulations.
